Well done! You’ve made it to Day 280! You’ve probably realised by now that if you have been reading just the New Testament plan that you completed the whole of the New Testament in August. Awesome! If this the first time you have ever done this, congratulations!
If you have been reading the Whole Bible plan, not only have you read the whole of the New Testament but you’ve nearly read all the way to the end of Isaiah. Keep going, you’re nearly there!
I really felt that God just wanted to encourage us all to keep on reading his word, to keep on digging deeper, to keep on asking questions about what we don’t understand.
In Acts 8 we read about Philip’s encounter with the Ethiopian. The Ethiopian was reading the book of Isaiah and Philip boldly asked him “Do you understand what you are reading?” The Ethiopian replied “How can I, unless someone explains it to me?” He then invites Philip to sit with him and Philip explains the good news of Jesus from the passage in Isaiah.
Maybe you feel like the Ethiopian. You have lots of questions and you are looking for answers.
Firstly, remember, before you read, pray. Ask the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of wisdom and revelation (Eph 1:17) to reveal the truth in the word to you. Read the chapter through once and then read it again but this time slowly, asking God to highlight anything significant to you.
Secondly, ask others what God is speaking to them about. Use the “Talk it Over” section on the Bible App to let us know what stands out to you, ask questions, and let’s dig in deeper.
Maybe God is wanting to use you today like Philip. Are you ready to answer a question?
I have read the Bible many, many times. I never get bored as there is always something fresh and new that God wants to reveal. Heb 4:12 says the Word of God is “alive and active”; it is living and God wants the word to live in you.
To be ready to answer, you have to allow the word to be alive. So, keep on reading, keep on digging deeper, and keep on asking questions.
You’ve got this!!
