|New Testament||Romans 4||Romans 5||Romans 6||Romans 7||Romans 8||Romans 9||Romans 10|
|Old Testament||Exodus 16-17|
Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
Sometimes when faced with the facts, things can look bleak! Let’s face it, that doctors’ diagnosis doesn’t look like you’re walking in health! That final notice in the post doesn’t look like prosperity!
But even looking at those facts, we can still believe God’s Word, we can still hold on to the promises He has given to us and we can trust that God is more than able!
I love it that Abraham looked at the facts, not blindly ignoring them, and was not overcome by them. He didn’t see the facts and think that was it! He saw them and didn’t waver through unbelief.
Romans 4 tells us Abraham was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God!
How do we get strong in our faith? Through the Word of God! Faith comes by hearing the Word of God! So just by you taking part in this reading plan, you are going to be strengthening your faith. Keep going! Don’t give up now we’re a couple of months in! Keep reading and you’ll keep building your faith!
Then he gave glory to God! Why could he give glory to God? Because his faith was so strong, because he believed implicitly that God was going to fulfil His promise to him, that he couldn’t help but rejoice! He knew it wasn’t by his doing, but that it was GOD that had power to do what He has promised, that he praised him!
No matter how bleak a situation may seem at the moment, no matter how long you’ve been living in it, remind yourself of what God has done for you, look through the Bible, and through your life and see that He is faithful to His Word. Listen to testimonies of others who have seen God pull through for them in a similar situation.
Let’s face the facts today and see that our God is bigger, stronger and more powerful!
Let’s face the facts today and see that God is not only able, but willing to fulfil His promises to you!
