What matters most to me is to finish what God started: the job the Master Jesus gave me of letting everyone I meet know all about the incredibly extravagant generosity of God.
Acts 20:24 (The Message)
Have you ever thought, “I wish I had a simple job description telling me exactly what God wants me to do?” I have!
In this week’s Bible reading I came across what looks to me like a very simple, two-part job description from the Apostle Paul.
We tend to think of Paul as a kind of “superman”, with supernatural strength and nothing like us mere mortals. But, let’s not forget, Paul was just like us. He had the same Spirit dwelling in him. He had to deal with challenging people just like we do. So how did he remain focused? How did he accomplish so much during his lifetime. He kept it simple!
The above verse from the Apostle Paul gives us his two-part job description:
In order to finish what God started… I need to….
- “Let everyone I meet know… “
We are to tell everyone around us what we know.
Look around you, those are the people we are to focus on. If you tell the people you know, and I tell the people I know, together we accomplish our job.
- “…All about the incredible extravagant generosity of God. “
The message we are to communicate is very simple: God is good! By telling everyone we meet about all the good things God has done for us we fulfill one of the most important jobs we have as believers. That’s easy! We can do that!
Application: Make a list of at least 3 people you know whom you want to tell about God’s incredible, extravagant generosity and begin praying daily for opportunities.
