Galatians 3:13-14 NKJV
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"), [14] that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
As believers, we often find ourselves encountering various challenges and obstacles in life. These struggles can range from personal to professional, leaving us feeling helpless and overwhelmed. In this blog, I want to share a personal experience I had as a former business owner, where I faced a legal problem that taught me the importance of knowing our rights as Christians. By understanding the power of Christ's redemptive work, we can navigate through life's difficulties with confidence and authority.
During my time as a business owner, I confronted a legal issue involving someone who took advantage of my company and stole from me. This led to a legal battle consuming countless hours and days with lawyers in courtrooms and engaging in prolonged back-and-forth proceedings. Ultimately, I lost the case and coupled with the excessive legal fees, it posed a significant setback for both me and my business.
What troubled me the most was the fact that despite the clear illegality of the actions taken against me, and even with a legal team supporting my case, I found myself being taken advantage of. It was a harsh reminder that ignorance of our rights and inadequately equipped legal representation can lead to unfavourable outcomes. The law, in its nature, cannot shield us from the consequences of ignorance.
So, why am I sharing this story? As Christians, we are no strangers to the attacks of the devil. Although he has been stripped of his rights and legally has no authority over us, he still seeks to afflict and torment us. However, we must remember that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. By doing so, He paved the way for the blessings of Abraham to be bestowed upon us, and through faith, we receive the promise of the Spirit.
You see, in Christ, we have been granted every blessing, and any curse that the devil attempts to bring into our lives is void. It is crucial that we fully understand and assert our rights in Christ. When we boldly declare what Christ has accomplished on our behalf, the devil loses all authority and power over us. Unlike my legal team, who were limited in their abilities, Jesus serves as the ultimate advocate, interceding for us with His precious blood.
Scripture warns us that the devil prowls like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. However, those who are aware of their rights cannot be devoured by his schemes. Ignorance of our rights in God's Law leaves us vulnerable.
I remember a time when I suffered from a chronic stomach problem for three years. Each meal or drink would cause terrible pain, leaving me unable to digest properly. Despite being a believer, the devil had placed an unjustified curse of disease upon me. Thankfully, by God's grace, I encountered Pastor Matt, who enlightened me about my rights in Christ. He explained how Jesus had paid the price for my healing through His sacrifice on the cross. Armed with this revelation, I boldly declared my rights, resisted the devil's attacks, and received my healing.
Whenever the devil attempts to assault us with disease, poverty, or deceit, we must counter his lies with the truth of God's Word. It is crucial to remember that if Jesus bore it for us, we do not have to bear it any longer. By embracing and exercising our rights, we tap into the authority bestowed upon us as children of God.
Knowing our rights as believers is a transformative and empowering revelation. By understanding the redemptive work of Christ, we can confidently navigate life's challenges, secure in the knowledge that every blessing belongs to us and that the devil's attacks hold no legal ground. Let us stand firm, equipped with the truth of God's Word, and boldly declare our rights, for we have an advocate in Jesus who intercedes on our behalf.
