Not Giving Up

05 November 2021

Sun rays through the clouds

Life is not always easy, but I’m so excited to let you all know that this statement doesn’t end here.

There have been times in my life when I was so close to giving up, not necessarily because I could not see a way out, but because it was too hard, or it took too much time to turn the situation around. I even had people around me reminding me that I do have that option of giving up, to let go and move on.  That would have been so much easier, but then where’s the gain in that, where’s the victory?

God never gave up on us, He never gave up on His people. He sent His one and only Son to save us, to pay for all our sins, to obtain eternal redemption through His own blood, once and for all … and that was not easy on Jesus either, but He came on earth to do the Father’s will (Hebrews 9:11). If we could only fully comprehend what that means, if we could just completely absorb the fact that because of Jesus we are citizens of heaven with residency on earth. We would stop wasting our time to try and prove to people who we are and we would be concentrating on doing more of what God wants us to do for His kingdom.

Throughout the book of Hebrews, we see faith and patience mentioned a few times.

“We do not want to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” (Hebrews 6:12)

This gets me excited. It gives me the confidence to press on and put my trust in Him, because I KNOW that no matter how hard it gets, no matter how long it takes, God’s promises are YES and AMEN and they are mine, having done His will. (Hebrews 10:36)

So next time we tend to feel sorry for ourselves, let us be reminded that Jesus’ sacrifice was not done in vain, let us remember that we can do all things through Him who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13) and let us stay focused on His promise of salvation, on the finish line.  Freely approach the throne, freely worship God because Jesus has made a way! There is hope, there is victory in Him!
