There Is One God

For there is one God

1 Timothy 2:5 KJV

For there is one God. I can remember sitting in Bible school and hearing this verse read aloud; the words rang in my ears as it sunk deeper and deeper into my heart. There is one God. As the days passed, I began thinking about those words and what it was that the Lord was trying to get into my heart. It was something that I needed revelation of to continue to grow in what He was calling me to do.

Soon I found myself believing for finances to go on a mission trip. It was a Thursday morning, and I was sitting in a pew at Rhema USA and pleading within myself for the finances. It was at that moment it hit me. It was as though someone had dropped a bucket of ice-cold water over me, and I was snapped awake from a deep sleep. I did not have God in his position of authority in my life. I was not pleading with God to go on this trip. I was pleading with money to allow me to go. I knew at that moment that God had given me the desire to go on this trip, but I was asking money for permission to go.

What a moment of awakening, you see God created me and you, he made all of the "things" on the earth, money included, so if I were confident that God had given me the vision to do something, then wouldn't he provide what is necessary to fulfill what he had ordained? How many times has something been planted in our hearts, and we look to money or time or friends or the approval of others to permit us to fulfill what God has called us to do? Why do we ask permission or seek the consent of others when ultimately, there is only One God?

In an instant, I adjusted; I repented for my ignorance. I would love to say that was the end of it, and all of the finances just fell in my lap. That was not the case. I found that I had to make it a point daily to keep God in His place in my thought life. It was so easy to go back to the mindset where I was asking for permission from worldly things to fulfill the call I was given; it wasn't until I found freedom in this area that I was able to see God move in extraordinary ways. What are your dreams, visions, and God-ordained callings that you do not see as possible now? There is provision for all of these things; there is only one God. Evaluate your priorities and your thought life. Romans 2:11 says God is no respecter of persons, that means what He has done for me, He will do for you too! There is nothing impossible with God!
