Step into God’s Plan

Have you ever thought about the unique purpose that God has for your life? It's more than just a profession; it's a calling tailor-made for you.  Yet many Christians mistakenly believe that unless they are called to full-time ministry, they have no significant role in God's plan.  But that couldn't be further from the truth.

From the very beginning, God crafted a plan and a purpose for each of us.  He longs to utilise our gifts and talents to influence the world around us — whether it's within our homes, schools, workplaces, or communities.  Wherever we find ourselves, God wants to work through us.

Let’s look at the account of John the Baptist in Luke. John was living in the wilderness when he received a message from God. This encounter changed his life and propelled him into action.  Luke 3:2-3 recounts, "...At this time a message from God came to John son of Zechariah, who was living in the wilderness. Then John went from place to place on both sides of the Jordan River, preaching that people should be baptised to show that they had repented of their sins and turned to God to be forgiven."

John didn't hesitate, but embraced the call on his life wholeheartedly.  He travelled far and wide, baptising people and proclaiming the Good News.  He was the voice crying in the wilderness, paving the way for Jesus.

Like John we all have a call to fulfil.  Yet, too often, we can compartmentalise our lives, reserving our faith for Sundays.  Or believing it’s a personal thing and holding it to ourselves.  But as followers of Christ, we are called to be ambassadors, representing Him in every arena of life.  Just as an ambassador represents their country wherever they go, we are ambassadors of Christ, carrying His message of love, hope and redemption wherever we find ourselves.

So, how do we discover and embrace our calling?  It begins with seeking God earnestly in prayer, immersing ourselves in His Word, and listening to His leading.

Remember, your calling isn't limited to a specific vocation or ministry; it encompasses every aspect of your life.  Whether you're a teacher, a doctor, a parent or a student, God desires to work through you, using your unique gifts and passions to impact the world for His glory.

As you reflect on your own calling, consider how you can live it out daily.  Embrace God’s call on your life and step out in faith.  There are people in your life that need God and need you to share His love with them.

Pray:

Thank you Lord for the plan and purpose that you have for my life.  Help me to embrace your call and step into the plan that you have for my life.  I ask that you would give me boldness to share Your love with the people in my sphere of influence.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
