# TGEN - This Generation, Every Nation!

05 February 2021

An image of the world made out of water, The caption reads: 'The earth will be filled with the knowing of the Lord's shining-greatness as the waters cover the sea'. Habbakuk 2:14 (NIV)

Matthew 24:33-34

Even so, when you see all these things [Greek: Tauta] you know that it [He] is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things [Greek: Tauta] have happened.

In these two verses Jesus tells us that the generation that sees “These Things” (the English translation of the Greek word ‘Tauta’) come to pass, will not end without seeing the return of the Lord.

Could our generation be the generation that this verse is referring to? Can we know? If so, how?

The statement in verse 34 is made as part of an answer Jesus is giving to a three part question the disciples asked in verse three:

            Matthew 24:3

…the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, 1) when will these things [Greek: Tauta] be? And 2) what will be the sign of Your coming, and 3) [what will be the sign] of the end of the age?”

Jesus then listed several signs, including wars, earthquakes, famines, disease, etc. However, in this chapter, Jesus says concerning all ‘Tauta’, these are only signs of the beginning of sorrows. In other words, don’t focus on these and if you do, you will be deceived.

            Matthew 24:4, 8

Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you.

All these [Greek: Tauta] are the beginning of birth pains.

Instead, Jesus tells them the sign of ‘Tauta’ will be:

Matthew 24:14

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations (Greek: Ta Ethne), and then the end will come.

If you have known me for any length of time, you know that this is a verse I preach most from. I can teach for hours from many different scriptures in support of this one verse showing that the Church has the delegated authority - and responsibility - as Ministers of Reconciliation, to use every means possible to reach every unreached people group (Greek: Ta Ethne); and further, that the generation that does will not pass away before they see Jesus return for His Bride, bringing closure to this Church Age.

As the great English evangelist, Leonard Ravenhill, said,  “In every age, God has given the Church the resources and ability to evangelize the whole world … If they would just do it”

As we begin the second month of 2021, let’s do everything we can this year to ensure our generation is that final generation! The #TGEN Generation!
